Salman Khan Biography : Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan who is also known as Salman Khan is one of the successful commercial Indian Bollywood actor. Salman Khan was born on 27th December 1965. Salman Khan is the eldest son of Salim Khan and Shushila Charak. His mother belongs to Hindu family. Even though Salman name tells us he is a Muslim, he stated that he is both Hindu and Muslim and worship God in different ways irrespective of religion. Salman attended the Ganesh Puja many times at the time Ganesh Chaturdhi / Vinayaka Chavithi.

Family, Brothers and Sisters

Salman has a stepmother Helen who is a former actress. She acted with Salman Khan in several movies. Salman Khan has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. Arbaaz khan is married to VJ and actress Malaika Arora. Salman's sister Alvira married to director Atul Agnihoti.  His second sister Arpita is Married to Aayush Sharma.


Salman khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail finished schooling at St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai. He went to Scindia School, Gwalior for few years along with his younger brother Arbaaz. He went to Elphinstone College and dropped out after the second year.

Biwi Ho To Aisi was his debut movie as a supporting role. The movie was released in 1988 and his original voice was not used. His first movie as a hero was Maine Pyar Kiya released in 1989 directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya. It was Salman's first romantic movie as a hero. The movie was a huge hit and earned a lot at the box office and stood as a highest grossing Indian film at that time. He was nominated for Best Actor at filmfare. Best Male debut award was given to the director Sooraj R.Barjatya. Later they rectified the mistake. Myne Pyar Kiya was released in Visakhapatnam and crossed 25 weeks and there were six centers 100 day run in Andhra Pradesh. It dubbed Malayalam and Tamil as well and performed well.

In 1990 Baaghi: A Rebel for Love was a hit movie followed by average movies like Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa, and Kurbaan.  Another romantic movie Saajan, which also starred by Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit was a financially Successful.All movies release in 1992-1993 was box office failures. Hum Aapke Hain Koun was his next hit movie directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya. Madhuri Dixit was the lead actress in the romantic movie which was released in 1994. The movie bagged 3 Film fare Awards and National Award for best popular movie. It collected US$21 million (Rs 1.35 billion) worldwide and became the biggest Bollywood of the year.

Salman Khan was arrested for his rash and negligent driving which took life of a person who was sleeping on the pavement and injured four other. His car ran into the bakery in Mumbai. The people who injured and the one who died were sleeping outside the bakery. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him. His car driver Ashok Singh was charged with perjury and arrested for giving the testimony that he was driving when the incident happened. On May 6th Mumbai Sessions Court concluded that Salman was the cause for the death of one and four injured, he was on alcohol influence and sentenced to 5 years jail. Later he got interim bail till May 8th 2015.The final appeal hearing is in July.

Relationships and affairs

Salman Khan was in relationship with Aishwarya Rai for some time. The both broke up in 2002. After the break-up Aishwarya Rai accused him of harassing her. Aishwarya's parents lodged complaint against Salman. Salman Khan started dating Katrina Kaif after many years Katrina told in an interview in 2011 about her relationship with Salman Khan and told that it ended in 2010. Salman had dated many including Sangeetha Bijlani and Somy Ali.


Salman Khan is very popular for his charitable works. He has been doing charity work throughout his career. He launched Salman Khan Being Human Production (SKBH). The main aim of this production house is to donate the revenue generated by the movies to his NGO Being Human. Chillar Party was the first movie made under this banner. It won 3 National Awards. The movie was about children. It won Best Children’s Film, Best Original Screenplay and Best Chile Artist Award. Salman Khan offered to pay $63000 for releasing 400 prisoners from UP.
